“A sound bar is a great solution if you have a small space or want a simple way to enhance your TV’s sound without going to the trouble of assembling a full surround-sound system,” says Consumer Reports. “Most bars house two to five speakers (some might have more) in a single enclosure, and some come with a separate subwoofer (often a wireless model). Some models simulate surround sound, but don’t expect it to be as good as true surround sound.”
Here is the Consumer Reports’ selection of recommended sound bars. The maximum overall score is 100, and “Best Buy” models offer more value.
